Sendero Bosque de Oro Verde
Area: Valle del río Los Palos, norte de Puerto Aysén
Sendero Bosque de Oro Verde is a hike through the evergreen forest of the Los Palos river valley, north of Puerto Aysén, at kilometer 7 of the road leading to lago Los Palos. The route, approximately two hours long, winds through native trees, ferns, mosses, and fungi, with opportunities to spot birds of the Patagonian forest, and culminates at the Cola del Gallo waterfall, a powerful and beautiful cascade. It is a moderately difficult excursion, suitable for families, offering a close encounter with the rich cold rainforest of Aysén. To get there, take the road from Puerto Aysén toward lago Los Palos; appropriate footwear for wet terrain is recommended, and visitors are asked to respect the trail markings.
