Puerto Chacabuco
Area: 15 km al suroeste de Puerto Aysén, ruta 240
Just 15 kilometres from Puerto Aysén, at the end of the Aysén fjord, Puerto Chacabuco is the region's main seaport. It assumed that role in the 1960s, when the silting of the Aysén River forced port activity to relocate from Puerto Aysén. Today it is the departure point for ferries and cruises to laguna San Rafael, the fjord's hot springs and the Cinco Hermanas natural monument, as well as a hub for fishing and aquaculture. The surroundings invite visitors to explore the bay, watch the movement of vessels and enjoy views of mountains that plunge into the sea. Frequent minibuses connect it with Puerto Aysén via Route 240 in about 15 minutes.
