Puente Presidente Ibáñez

Area: Río Aysén, entre Ribera Norte y Ribera Sur

An undisputed symbol of Puerto Aysén, this 210-meter suspension bridge is the longest of its kind in Chile. Built between 1961 and 1966 with a steel structure manufactured in Germany by Krupp, it was declared a National Monument in 2002. Its two 25-meter-high arches connect the north and south banks of the Aysén River, offering one of the most photographed views in the region. Walking across it at sunset, as the light falls over the river and the hills surrounding the city, is a must. Located just a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas, it can easily be visited on foot from anywhere in the city center.
