27 kilometers south of Puerto Aysén, along a gravel road that winds through hills and lush vegetation, lies Lago Riesco, a glacial lake of over 16 km² surrounded by mountains exceeding one thousand meters. It is one of the most popular spots for recreational trout fishing —the season runs from October to March— as well as swimming in summer, kayaking, and birdwatching. Its shores offer suitable areas for picnicking and camping. Access is via Route X-550, branching off the road connecting Puerto Aysén with Puerto Chacabuco.
