Humedal Las Ranas
Area: Costanera Condell, Puerto Aysén
Humedal Las Ranas is a high-value urban ecosystem located in the heart of Puerto Aysén, alongside the Costanera Condell and just steps from the city center. It is a key hub of local biodiversity: its waters and vegetation shelter native birds and insects that can be observed in their natural habitat, and even the siete colores — one of the most striking birds of Chilean wetlands — has been recorded here. Beyond its natural richness, it plays vital roles for the city: it buffers flooding from the Aysén river and contributes to the recharge of underground water tables. The waterfront promenade allows visitors to walk along its edge, photograph the landscape, and practice birdwatching. It is part of the Ruta de los Humedales promoted by the Municipalidad de Aysén.
