Cascada de la Virgen

On Route 240 connecting Puerto Aysén with Coyhaique, about 35 kilometres east of Puerto Aysén and within the Reserva Nacional Río Simpson, a waterfall drops in two tiers over a grotto dedicated to the Virgin, installed in 1955. The combination of water, rock and forest has turned the site into a natural sanctuary that receives pilgrimages every year and is a must-stop for travellers along this road. Parking is available next to the highway and the walk to the base of the waterfall is short. Ideal to combine with a tour of the Río Simpson valley and its viewpoints.
